Elmwood Cemetery

Opened in 1852, more than two miles outside of the then city limits, Elmwood has stood has a historic Memphis treasure for 167 years. We are joined on this episode by Kim Bearden, CEO and Executive Director of Elmwood Cemetery, and her husband Willy Bearden. Kim has been on staff at Elmwood for more than 22 years and is the consummate storyteller of this most historic place. Her leadership and preservation of the history of Elmwood continues to honor the sacred grounds and her passion for the souls resting there is a testament to her dedication to this historic treasure. Willy is a long time Memphian and a very successful and sought after writer and filmmaker. He is the author of Elmwood Cemetery and also wrote, filmed and edited the Memphis Memoir film Elmwood – Reflections of Memphis. He can be found at willybearden.com
